Baseball Recap: Archbishop Wood Starts off Right with Win over Upper Moreland

Archbishop Wood gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Upper Moreland Bears with a sharp 13-2 victory. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2017.

Mason Burlingame looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Jimmy Casey was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Cavallaro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Upper Moreland's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Archbishop Wood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-2 victory against Hatboro-Horsham on the 25th. Upper Moreland has also already played their next contest (against Upper Dublin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
