Baseball Game Preview: Christoval Cougars vs. Menard Yellowjackets

The Christoval Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Menard Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Christoval is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on San Angelo HomeSchool with a sharp 17-11 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Ryler Hunt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He also put up a stolen base, which was his first of the season. Ethan Waddell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Christoval always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Menard made easy work of Texas Leadership Charter Academy - Abilene on Tuesday and carried off a 26-14 win.

Christoval's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Menard, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Christoval took their victory against Menard when the teams last played back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 28-1. Will Christoval repeat their success, or does Menard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
