Basketball Recap: Chewelah Comes Up Short

After flying high against Newport on Friday, Chewelah came back down to earth. The Chewelah Cougars fell 48-39 to the Davenport Gorillas on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled against the Gorillas recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Chewelah's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Davenport, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chewelah will finish 2024 at home by hosting Mary Walker at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Chewelah is facing Mary Walker at the right time seeing as Mary Walker is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Davenport, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Waterville at 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
