Softball Recap: Hurricane Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Cabell Midland

Hurricane faced Cabell Midland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Redskins took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Redskins haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Kate Justice was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 24 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hurricane saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Justice, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Hurricane's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Cabell Midland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.
