Baseball Recap: Monroe Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Monroe Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on the Tri Titans with a sharp 9-3 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Bears, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Luedike and Carter Duncan did most of the damage at the plate: Luedike went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Duncan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Duncan is becoming a predictor of Monroe Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kyler Bogue, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Monroe Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Monroe Central back to even at 10-10. As for Tri, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11-1.

Coming up, Monroe Central will challenge Winchester Community at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Tri, they will face off against Northeastern at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
