Basketball Game Preview: Wellington-Napoleon Tigers vs. Odessa Bulldogs

The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers will face off against the Odessa Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellington-Napoleon has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 17.

Last Friday, Wellington-Napoleon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 34-30 to Leeton.

Despite their defeat, Wellington-Napoleon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cali Russell, who posted 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Those 14 points gave Russell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brilynn Zykan, who earned eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Odessa played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They breezed by Center to the tune of 68-30. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season.

Odessa's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Wellington-Napoleon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Wellington-Napoleon was dealt a bruising 72-26 defeat at the hands of Odessa in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wellington-Napoleon was down 42-19.
