Oglethorpe County and Elbert County are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Blue Devils at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Oglethorpe County has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 25.

On Wednesday, Oglethorpe County ended up a good deal behind Athens Academy and lost 52-36. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Spartans are ranked 210th).

Meanwhile, Elbert County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 64-60 to Providence Christian Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), the Blue Devils still had to take the loss.

Oglethorpe County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Elbert County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Oglethorpe County came up short against Elbert County in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, falling 52-46. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
