Baseball Recap: Sharyland Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sharyland walked away with it. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Rattlers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Emilio Villarreal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Sharyland let Santiago Soto and Nic Valdez run wild. Soto went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Valdez went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most RBI Soto has posted since back in February. Luis Balderas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Sharyland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Veterans Memorial only posted a batting average of .300.

Sharyland pushed their record up to 25-7-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-8.

As of now, neither Sharyland nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
