Preview: Camden County Bruins vs. Manteo Redskins
After two games on the road, Camden County is heading back home. They will take on the Manteo Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Camden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
Even though Pasquotank County scored an imposing 57 points, Camden County still came out on top. Camden County skirted past Pasquotank County 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Camden County has posted yet this season.
Camden County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xzavior Wiggins out in front who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of J'ron Pendleton, who scored 13 points along with six assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Manteo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 76-45 defeat at the hands of Holmes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Manteo has suffered against Holmes since February 11, 2020.
Despite the defeat, Manteo had strong showings from Taylor Granitzki, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds, and Zay Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 40% of Manteo's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Camden County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Manteo, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Camden County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Manteo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
