Loyola owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the St. Francis Golden Knights. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Golden Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Luke Connon looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, Loyola saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Bendel, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Loyola has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for St. Francis, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12.

Loyola will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
