Baseball Recap: Hopkinton Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dover-Sherborn, Hopkinton was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bellingham Blackhawks by a score of 6-3. That's more bragging rights for the Hillers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Nick Pedroli was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Landon Fitzgibbon looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Pedroli wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Stacey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Stacey has hit this season.

Hopkinton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bellingham, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Coming up, Hopkinton will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Holliston at 6:30 p.m. The last four games the Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Bellingham, they will head out on the road to face off against Dover-Sherborn at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
