Softball Recap: Newaygo Has No Trouble Against Carson City-Crystal

Newaygo got themselves on the board against Carson City-Crystal on Tuesday, but Carson City-Crystal never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 21-0 win. Considering the Lions have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Clark made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Clark was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Gabby Arney was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 contests. Another player making a difference was Ella Luchies, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Newaygo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carson City-Crystal only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory snapped Newaygo's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-12 record. As for Carson City-Crystal, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Newaygo will square off against Kent City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Carson City-Crystal does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
