The Standley Lake Gators will venture away from home to take on the Kennedy Commanders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Standley Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Standley Lake needed a bit of extra time to put away Pomona. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 10-9. The victory was some much needed relief for the Gators as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Titus Schrecengost was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Standley Lake is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10 otherwise. Schrecengost was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Dylan Lindenmayer was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Standley Lake's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't). Kyvon Ferrin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Standley Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Kennedy came up short against Lincoln on Saturday, falling 16-1. The Commanders have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Kennedy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Nielsen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Standley Lake, their record is now 10-11.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Standley Lake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Standley Lake got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Kennedy by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
