Softball Recap: Mooresville Pioneers vs. Shelbyville Golden Bears

Mooresville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Shelbyville Golden Bears. Despite the win, that was the fewest runs Mooresville has scored all year.

Not much got past Zoey Kugelman, who gave up just five hits to keep Shelbyville off the board. Kugelman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Madison Poulson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

On Shelbyville's side, Cheyenne Eads spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

Even though they lost, Shelbyville didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mooresville didn't tossed any.

Mooresville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Shelbyville, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mooresville will take on Bloomington North at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mooresville is facing Bloomington North at the right time seeing as Bloomington North is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Shelbyville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roncalli at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roncalli will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Shelbyville surely won't give up without a fight.
