Basketball Recap: American's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

American entered their tilt with Carol City on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Carol City Chiefs with points to spare, taking the game 66-50. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Chiefs are ranked 452nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead American to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angel Torres, who went 5 for 12 en route to 18 points. The matchup was Torres' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Castin, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

American is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Carol City, they moved to 7-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

American will square off against Hialeah on Monday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Torres and Dj Foster. Carol City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
