Baseball Game Preview: Prairie View Thunderhawks vs. Northglenn Norsemen

Prairie View is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Northglenn Norsemen at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Prairie View turned things around against Westminster Christian on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Wildcats. The two-run effort marked the Thunderhawks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Prairie View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Romani Perez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Northglenn sidestepped Grand Junction Central for a 6-5 win.

The team relied heavily on Alonso Sandoval, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Northglenn's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Prairie View, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Prairie View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northglenn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Prairie View's way against Northglenn in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Prairie View made off with a 19-0 victory. Will Prairie View repeat their success, or does Northglenn has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
