Football Recap: William Jones Key Part of Team Effort in Saints Win + How To Watch

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Briarcrest Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 24-17 victory over the Christian Brothers Purple Wave. For the Saints, this counts as revenge for the 24-7 win the Purple Wave walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Briarcrest Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than William Jones, who picked up 91 receiving yards and two TDs. Jones is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Hudson Tucker was another key player, rushing for 49 yards and one touchdown.

Briarcrest Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.8 points over those games. As for Christian Brothers, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Briarcrest Christian will host Brentwood Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Christian Brothers, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lipscomb Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
