League recap: Tularosa rolls against Lordsburg

Tularosa took down Lordsburg 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Wildcats made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,215 from 8,900. The advance stemmed from a 50-0 victory over the Mavericks last week.

6-foot-1 quarterback Chase Carson of Hatch Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 937. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Lordsburg's Wendell Hayes has rushed for 855 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Christian Jimenez. The Mesilla Valley Christian star has 19 catches for 500 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Tularosa takes on second place Mesilla Valley Christian. Last week, Tularosa bested Louie Baisa's team, while Mesilla Valley Christian topped Cobre.

There should be lots of points scored when the Bears and the Mavericks face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Hatch Valley comes in having scored 235 this season, while Lordsburg has scored 197. Jack Cisco's team scored 20 points last week as it beat Hot Springs.

Bryan Jones' team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Mavericks.
