Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Lakewood Ranch couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Steinbrenner Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Lakewood Ranch sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-27, 25-18, 23-25, 16-14.

Lakewood Ranch's loss came despite strong showings from Mariana Alvarez and Hayden Zimmerman. Alvarez had 22 digs and five assists, while Zimmerman had 14 digs.

Lexi Tschopp had a dynamite game For Steinbrenner., getting 23 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Tschopp has posted since back in August. Kathryn Heidelberg was another key player, getting nine digs and one assist.

Lakewood Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Steinbrenner, their record now sits at 16-8.

Lakewood Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Steinbrenner, they will venture away from home to square off against Sunlake at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
