Recap: Wayne Valley Indians vs. Lakeland Regional Lancers
The Wayne Valley Indians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Lakeland Regional 80-34 on the road. That looming 80-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Wayne Valley yet this season.
Wayne Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Apicella out in front who scored 23 points along with five assists. The contest was Apicella's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Flower, who scored 19 points along with five assists.
Noah Pagan and Justin Meakem certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Pagan dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Meakem scored six points. Pagan scored a full 35.3% of Lakeland Regional's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Wayne Valley and bumps their season record up to 5-4. As for Lakeland Regional, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne Valley will square off against Fair Lawn at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Fair Lawn is ranked 121st, while Wayne Valley is ranked 112th). As for Lakeland Regional, they will head out on the road to face off against West Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
