Football Recap: Norwood Skates Past Dove Creek with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norwood). They blew past the Dove Creek Bulldogs 60-30 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won three contests by 30 points or more so far this season.

Norwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Keegan Tackett and Jackson McCabe.

When it comes to explaining why Dove Creek lost, don't look at Nicholas Aragon. Despite the final result, he rushed for 164 yards and one TD while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Aragon's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 127 rushing yards. Kycen Gritz got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Norwood's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Dove Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwood will head out to challenge Sargent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will be up against the Farmers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Dove Creek, they will head out on the road to take on Dolores at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
