Soccer Game Preview: Piper vs. Monarch

The Piper Bengals will venture away from home to challenge the Monarch Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Piper didn't have quite enough to beat Nova and fell 3-2. Piper haven't had much luck with Nova recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monarch). They put the hurt on McArthur with a sharp 6-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering Monarch's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

They hit McArthur with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sarah Hernandez (2), Dalilah Alvarado-Nater (2), Makayla Armstrong, and Angelena Pirolo.

The win made it two in a row for Monarch and bumps their season record up to 6-6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Piper, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-1.
