Basketball Game Preview: Morrow Mustangs vs. Dutchtown Bulldogs

The Morrow Mustangs will take on the Dutchtown Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Morrow against Northgate as the team secured a 65-25 win. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Vikings are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Dutchtown got the win against McIntosh on Tuesday by a conclusive 64-42. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Chiefs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Dutchtown's win came from a few key players Morrow will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Laylah Simpson, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points along with six boards and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Li'Ara Stephenson was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Morrow has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Dutchtown, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.

Morrow beat Dutchtown 55-42 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morrow since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
