The Ropes Eagles had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They snuck past Plains with a 25-19 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Ropes, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Plains lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Vargas. Despite the final result, he threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Ropes has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Plains, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Ropes will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Home at 7:00 p.m. New Home is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Plains, they will head out on the road to face off against Smyer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Smyer has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25.
