Softball Recap: St. Paul Wins Going Away Against South Central

St. Paul hadn't done well against South Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Flyers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Trojans. For the Flyers, this counts as revenge for the 12-3 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Taegan Mansfield-Bush made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, St. Paul got a massive performance out of Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ameila Taggart also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

St. Paul was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

St. Paul pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

St. Paul will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
