Basketball Recap: Belle Fourche's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Belle Fourche played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 62-37 to the Mahpiya Luta Crusaders. The Broncs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-17.

Mahpiya Luta was led to victory by Jodene Big Crow-Hunter and Ashlan Carlow-Blount. Big Crow-Hunter posted 20 points and three steals, while Carlow-Blount had 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Carlow-Blount is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 37 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Dorthie Mesteth, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points and four steals.

Belle Fourche's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-4. As for Mahpiya Luta, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0.

Belle Fourche will challenge Hot Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mahpiya Luta, they will face off against Pine Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
