Softball Game Preview: Wisconsin Heights Vanguards vs. Sauk Prairie Eagles

The Wisconsin Heights Vanguards will challenge the Sauk Prairie Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Sauk Prairie took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Wisconsin Heights, who comes in off a win.

Wisconsin Heights took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Belleville get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Vanguards in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Izzy Sutherland made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, earning three RBI and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Haley Wipperfurth was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Sauk Prairie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to Portage.

Wisconsin Heights pushed their record up to 3-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.5 runs across that stretch. As for Sauk Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
