Football Recap: Green Canyon Falls to Provo in First Game of Season

Green Canyon kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 27-14 to the Provo Bulldogs.

When it comes to explaining why Green Canyon lost, don't look at Hayden Schramm. Despite the final result, he picked up 139 receiving yards. Schramm's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 136 receiving yards dating back to last season.

Gehrig Orchard went supernova For Provo., throwing for 259 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 82 yards. Orchard showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 60 yards. Provo also got help from Griffin Demartini, who showed off his sure hands for 112 receiving yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Canyon will venture away from home to square off against Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Provo, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
