Basketball Recap: Chicago Marshall's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chicago Marshall entered their tilt with North Lawndale on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 49-43 W against the Phoenix. The Commandos have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Phoenix, too.

Chicago Marshall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alysha Murphy led the charge by going 6-for-10 on her way to 13 points and six boards. Murphy has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Janiyah Green was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Chicago Marshall's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for North Lawndale, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Chicago Marshall will venture away from home to square off against Curie at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Lawndale, they will head out to face off against Crane Medical at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so the Phoenix's offense will have their work cut out for them.
