Football Recap: Redlands East Valley Wildcats vs. Moreno Valley Vikings
Redlands East Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 42-32 to the Moreno Valley Vikings. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Despite the loss, Redlands East Valley still got an impressive performance from Isaac Vitela, who threw for 172 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Corona, who picked up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Trevor Williams was nothing short of spectacular for Moreno Valley: he rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 139.5 rushing yards per game. Syree Matthews was another key player, rushing for 138 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Redlands East Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Moreno Valley, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Redlands East Valley will welcome Sonora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Moreno Valley, they will be defending their home-field for the first time this season they go up against Vista del Lago at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
