Volleyball Recap: Lockwood Takes a Loss

Lockwood was the 3-0 winner over Sidney when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The LIONS fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The LIONS have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Lockwood wouldn't go down easily and took Sidney into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 12-point loss. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19, 26-28, 24-26, 15-3.

Lockwood's offense was headlined by Ellie Hassler and Madison Eiden, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Grace Swanson and her 23 assists. Hassler also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with DJ Baier, each putting up two.

Lockwood's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Sidney, their victory ended a four-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8.

Lockwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Laurel on the 7th. As for Sidney, after both having extra time off, they and Custer County will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th.
