Basketball Recap: Jaden Douglas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Charleston Math & Science

Baptist Hill won the last time they faced Charleston Math & Science and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Baptist Hill Bobcats took down the Charleston Math & Science Riptide 69-53. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bobcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Riptide are ranked 93rd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Baptist Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Douglas, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 27 boards. The dominant performance gave Douglas a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Martrell Wright, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Baptist Hill was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charleston Math & Science only racked up ten assists.

Ben Gilliard and Zion King certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Gilliard almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards, while King posted 14 points in addition to five assists and four steals. King is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Charlie Hider, who had four points and seven rebounds.

Baptist Hill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Charleston Math & Science, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.

Baptist Hill will head out to take on Cross at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Baptist Hill will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Charleston Math & Science, they will take on Scott's Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Charleston Math & Science is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.
