Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Mustangs vs. Palo Duro Dons

Coronado has gone a perfect 3-0 against Palo Duro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Coronado will take on Palo Duro at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Coronado took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lubbock-Cooper, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Coronado had just enough and edged out Lubbock-Cooper 5-4 on Saturday.

Coronado saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zarius Martinez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Martinez a new career-high in RBI (two). Another was Matt Garcia, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Palo Duro came into Friday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Shallowater on Friday.

Coronado now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Palo Duro, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Everything went Coronado's way against Palo Duro in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, as Coronado made off with a 19-1 victory. Does Coronado have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palo Duro turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
