Baseball Recap: Westerly's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Westerly hadn't done well against Waterford recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 13-6 victory the Lancers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Westerly's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Saglio, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Saglio also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Westerly's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westerly will host East Providence at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 4, the Townies 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Waterford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fitch at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
