Basketball Recap: Ashley Takes a Loss

Ashley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Merrill Vandals and fell 56-28. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Ashley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Karissa Brady almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Brady. Peyton Rohn also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Merrill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashley will square off against Vestaburg at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Merrill, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Morrice at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
