Basketball Recap: Benjamin Franklin Comes Up Short

Benjamin Franklin was the 45-18 winner over Riverdale when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Benjamin Franklin Falcons had to suffer through a 50-16 loss at the hands of the Riverdale Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Rebels are ranked 89th).

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sadie Mehok, who posted eight points. Mehok is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Benjamin Franklin's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-16. As for Riverdale, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Benjamin Franklin has already played their next game, a 48-37 win against East Jefferson on the 6th. As for Riverdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-25 victory against West Jefferson on the 6th.
