Volleyball Recap: Affton Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Affton faced off against Northwest on Thursday. The Cougars lost 3-0 to the Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

While Affton was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Northwest's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-13, 25-20.

Elli Casey paced Affton's offense, picking up ten kills. Casey got some help from Lydia Hausman and her 12 assists. Sophia Traber controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Affton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Northwest, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 8-11-3.

Looking ahead, Affton will host Mehlville at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwest, they will take on Windsor in a tournament on Saturday.
