Basketball Recap: North Duplin Comes Up Short

North Duplin suffered their closest loss since January 10, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Bear Grass Charter Bears by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (61), the Rebels still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why North Duplin lost, don't look at Donavan Armwood. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Those ten assists gave Armwood a new career-high. Duquan Stevens was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Armwood wasn't the only one working in the assists department: North Duplin was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

North Duplin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Bear Grass Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

North Duplin will be playing in front of their home fans against Neuse Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neuse Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for Bear Grass Charter, they will take on Cape Hatteras at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
