Recap: Oxford Yellow Jackets vs. Anniston Bulldogs
The Oxford Yellow Jackets entered their tilt with the Anniston Bulldogs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Oxford secured a 47-41 W over Anniston on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Oxford also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oxford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shay Montgomery, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Montgomery has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Xaionna Whitfield, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Oxford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Anniston, their loss dropped their record down to 20-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxford will take on Fort Payne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Fort Payne is ranked 86th, while Oxford is ranked 81st). As for Anniston, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Handley at 5:30 p.m.
