The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Pleasant Plains nor Routt Catholic made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cardinals' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rockets a 4-0 shutout. The Cardinals were shut out 7-0 the last time they took on the Rockets, so the Cardinals were just returning the favor.

The result came thanks to Cooper Schallenberg's shutout, as he gave up just five hits.

At the plate, Pleasant Plains' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sean Lowder, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs Lowder has posted since back in April of 2024.

Pleasant Plains has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. As for Routt Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Plains will head out to take on Normal University at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Routt Catholic, they will venture away from home to square off against Illini West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
