Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for West County

West County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Valle Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Monday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

Grace Barton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Sadie Patterson and Grace Lynch did most of the damage at the plate: Patterson scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Lynch went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Kaytlen Hartley was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

The win made it two in a row for West County and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Valle Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, West County will head out on the road to square off against Ste. Genevieve at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Valle Catholic, they will host Kingston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
