Baseball Recap: Wheaton Academy Has No Trouble Against Marian Central Catholic

Wheaton Academy barely beat Marian Central Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 11-3 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won seven in a row.

Carson Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on nine hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Wheaton Academy is 6-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Wheaton Academy let Brandon Kiebles and Jackson From run wild. Kiebles went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while From went a perfect 5-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Kiebles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dom Murrell, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wheaton Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.4.

Wheaton Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. As for Marian Central Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
