Basketball Recap: Laton Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Laton won the last time they faced Legacy Christian Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Laton Mustangs walked away with a 44-34 victory over the Legacy Christian Academy Lions. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Laton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaythan Garcia, who posted 15 points and five steals. Garcia has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Yann Jimenez, who put up seven points in addition to 11 rebounds and six assists.

Laton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matches.

Laton's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-14. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laton will venture away from home to challenge Kings Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Kings Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Laton likes a good challenge. Legacy Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against Riverdale Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
