Baseball Game Preview: El Modena Vanguards vs. Foothill Knights

The El Modena Vanguards will head out on the road to take on the Foothill Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. El Modena's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Foothill's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

El Modena will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Orange on Saturday. The Vanguards blew past the Panthers 11-1. The matchup marked the Vanguards' most dominant win of the season.

Eric Ordaz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathan Valdez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. London Aldridge was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

El Modena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orange only managed two hits.

Meanwhile, Foothill suffered their biggest loss since March 21, 2024 on Friday. They lost 9-1 to Cypress. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Centurions: they've now lost four in a row.

Foothill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Green, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for El Modena, their record is now 8-14.

El Modena couldn't quite finish off Foothill in their previous meeting back in March and fell 2-0. Can the Vanguards avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
