Whitehall had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Granville Golden Horde 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Railroaders have posted against the Golden Horde since April 26, 2018.
Khloe Paddock made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Paddock was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Mia Waters was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Marissa Eggleston, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Whitehall is set to face off against their familiar foe Argyle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Railroaders their first taste of in-conference action this season. Meanwhile, Granville will square off against rival Warrensburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will also be the Golden Horde's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
