Basketball Recap: Gering Comes Up Short

Gering was the 62-48 winner over Torrington when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Gering Bulldogs lost 60-35 to the Torrington Trailblazers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 154th in Nebraska, while the Trailblazers are ranked 32nd in Wyoming).

Torrington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landre Greiman, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Moorehouse, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Gering now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Torrington, they moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Gering has already played their next contest, a 67-65 loss against Douglas on the 20th. As for Torrington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-37 defeat against Sidney on the 20th.
