Softball Game Preview: Timberland Wolves vs. James Island Trojans

The Timberland Wolves will face off against the James Island Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Timberland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Timberland is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Woodland just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 10-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Timberland got a big performance out of Kaleigh White, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emilee Waters, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for James Island, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Fort Dorchester 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Mary Davis Hancock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, James Island's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Harper Billingsley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Billingsley a new career-high.

Timberland's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for James Island, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
