Basketball Recap: Battery Creek Takes a Loss

Battery Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Hampton County Hurricanes, falling 70-16. The Dolphins were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.

Hampton County found their leader in sophomore Lyric Jones, who went 9 of 21 on her way to 24 points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Brooks, who posted five points and 15 rebounds.

Battery Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Hampton County, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Battery Creek will venture away from home to take on Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hampton County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-11 victory against Edisto on the 7th.
