Volleyball Recap: Winside Gets the Win

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Tuesday. Winside narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hartington-Newcastle 2-1. The victory continues a trend for Winside in their matchups with Hartington-Newcastle: they've now won three in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Winside who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 17-25, 25-15.

Aftyn Schutt paced Winside's offense, picking up 15 kills. Schutt got some help from Tinsley Schwedhelm and her 11 assists. Schutt was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Winside's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season.

Winside has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Tri County Northeast on the 14th. Hartington-Newcastle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
