Volleyball Recap: Palmer's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Palmer's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Canon City Tigers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in September.

While Palmer was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23, 25-18.

Brooklyn Barnett paced Palmer's offense, picking up nine kills. Barnett really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with eight. Audrenna Gemmeke-Hall controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Sophie LeDoux was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had three digs and two aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Palmer's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Canon City, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Palmer will be playing at home against Coronado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canon City, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Pueblo Centennial on the 11th.
